Cosmetic Injectables

It’s easy to focus on an individual facial feature we’re not happy with, but a great way to look your best is to view your face as a whole, when considering treatments.

The face can be split into three distinct areas – upper, mid and lower – and they actually age at different rates. The key to retaining a fresh, natural look is to create balance and harmony across all three areas. It’s possible to achieve subtle, natural-looking results, and still look distinctly ‘like you’, by employing the full range of options that modern anti-wrinkle treatments and dermal filler treatments offer.

To completely appreciate how these treatments work together, it’s important to understand the natural ageing process. Our nurse will explain all of this,  answer any questions and discuss which treatments can help you achieve your goals in our FREE consultation.

Anti-Wrinkle Treatments
What are anti-wrinkle treatments?

Anti-wrinkle treatments are used to reduce lines and wrinkles that form in the upper face.  They contain a protein that causes the injected facial muscle to relax, smoothing out lines and wrinkles in that area.

How quickly will I see results?

With anti-wrinkle injections, expect to see initial results 1 to 2 days following treatment, with the full effects visible at between 7 – 14 days.

How long with the results last?

The effects of anti-wrinkle treatments usually last up to 3-4 months. If you have regular anti-wrinkle treatments, the effects may last longer.

Anti-wrinkle injections relax only the muscle beneath the lines where product has been injected, and the muscles responsible for other aspects of your facial expression stay active.  If you have no further treatments, the muscles return to normal and lines gradually go back to how they looked before treatment.

Are there any side effects?

Anti-wrinkle injections are usually well tolerated, however, as with all medications, side effects can occur.  Possible side effects include plain, burning or stinging; bruising, swelling or redness at the injection site; local muscle weakness including drooping eyelids or eyebrows; swollen eyelids and skin tightness; tingling sensations, itching or aching forehead; headaches, nausea and flu-like symptoms.

Is there any downtime?

There is very little downtime with anti-wrinkle injections.  the average treatment session lasts about 10 minutes and you can return to your day-to-day activities straight away.

Dermal Fillers
What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels that restore volume to areas of the face.  Many contain a substance that replicates the actions of a naturally occurring sugar molecule, attracting and holding water to assist with skin hydration.  The products can be placed below the skin’s surface to provide more youthful contours and smoother skin.

How quickly will I see results?

Dermal fillers produce INSTANT results – a typical first procedure takes between 15 – 30 minutes.

How long will the results last?

The effects of dermal filler can last anywhere between 9 and 24 months, depending on which product has been used.

Are there any side effects?

The type of dermal fillers that contain synthetic sugar molecule are usually well tolerated, however, as with all medications, side effects can occur.  Reported dermal filler side effects include injection site redness, pain, firmness, swelling, lumps and bumps, bruising, itching or discolouration.  In the vast majority of cases, these effects are temporary and should resolve within a week.

Is there any downtime?

There is very little downtime with dermal fill injections.  The average treatment session lasts between 15 and 30 minutes and you can return to your day-to-day activities straight away.  Our dermal fillers also contain an anaesthetic, which can reduce discomfort during injection.
